Stephen didn't always drink coffee. For years, a can of Diet Coke was how he got through his mornings. Not exactly the backstory you'd expect from someone who went on to build a coffee company.
Then life took him to Seattle, and everything changed. He became obsessed with what made coffee actually good — from the farm to the cup. He started roasting small batches at home, just for himself and his wife Mandy. No business plan. No grand vision. Just a garage, a half-pound roaster, and a growing passion for getting it right.
The business started by accident. A church fundraiser for local school teachers at Christmas. A few bags of freshly roasted coffee. He thought they might sell a handful and call it a day. Instead, people kept coming back. They told their friends. They wanted to know when the next roast was coming. Mandy looked at him and said — maybe you should do something with this.
So he did.
Named after his grandfather's old country store in Greeneville, Tennessee, Cove Creek Coffee Co. carries forward the same spirit that made that little shop special.
